I built a landing page on Sunday.
It took me just under 2 hours to finish the first draft.
The best part?
It cost me less than $50 to build.
I bought the domain on Namecheap.
I created the site using Carrd.
I used ConvertKit to capture email addresses (and to deliver the product).
Most of the work (for now) is in Carrd.
I’ve found Carrd to be perfect for creating very simple landing pages.
And if you’re NOT a designer (like me), Carrd makes it dead-simple to create a professional looking website using their pre-built templates.
Instead of one of the default templates, I used a custom template created by the Premium Ghostwriting Academy.
I love it because it’s only 2 pages.
And there is only 1 action a browser can take on the page. And that’s to subscribe.
I learned that minimizing the number of decisions a potential customer has to make, improves your conversation. In fact, I’ve seen some of these sites convert up to 70% of visitors. Which is crazy, when most people get 20-25% conversion on a good day.
All I had to do is add my copy, add an image, and change the colors.
Super simple.
The hardest part for me was deciding what I wanted to create.
Here’s how I decided what to build:
I looked at my own workflow.
I’m currently focused on writing faster and avoiding the overthinking trap. I’m a chronic edit while I write type of person, and I realized how much longer it takes me when I write this way.
So, to fix this, I set a goal to write one thing a day in 20-minutes or less.
I’m down to about 45 minutes now.
But I’ve learned to stack my wins in 20-minute increments. One task at a time. This has worked so well for me that I thought someone else might like it too.
So, I framed up the product in a landing page here:
https://20minutenewsletter.com/
This is everything I use to write and publish a daily newsletter for myself (and my clients).
For now, I’ve decided to give this away completely for free while I’m working out the kinks.
But eventually, I’m going to change for it.
